Textures- Silhouettes

Well. So much for regular updates. >_>

Anyway...

This band is awesome. Equal parts Coalesce and Devin Townsend, Textures displays technical prowess without regressing into guitar wankery. Will be listening to this a lot over the next couple weeks. You should too!

Enjoy.

Abandoned Pools - Humanistic

Abandoned Pools (yes the Clone High band) is a project by Tommy Walters from Eels. Humanistic contains many electronica influences and is overall a very satisfying listen.

The Wesley Willis Fiasco- Spookydisharmoniousconflicthellride

All joking aside, this is a really great punk album. The lyrics are typical Wesley Willis- ranging from singing about his friends in the music industry (Steve Albini) to stuff about drinking whiskey and apologizing for getting fat. The instrumentals are, on the other hand, absolutely awesome.

rock over london, rock on chicago.

Sparklehorse is led by Mark Linkous who records mostly in his home studio. It's a Wonderful life features guests such as PJ Harvey and Tom Waits. The album sound is very melancholy and sad. Worth checking out

Black Math Horseman- Wyllt

"Call it ambient post-doom. Call it alchemic psych-rock, only without all those annoying freeform guitar freakouts. Call it “pure spirits by ritual dismemberment.”"

With a description like that... how do you not listen to it?

Get it already, jeez

Amesoeurs- Amesoeurs

This album is a perfect(ly odd) combination of a multitude of
genres ranging anywhere from raw black metal to 80's post-punk
to shoegaze. Such an assortment of sounds seems nearly impossible
to mesh together, but Amesoeurs have pulled it off incredibly well.
Sadly, this is their only full-length recording - they disbanded after
its release.
